Living in abundance does not mean you are rich in material possessions, it means you are mindful and thankful of what you have, as opposed to what you are lacking.
If I can teach my six-year-old son about gratitude and what it means to be grateful, I can sure as hell teach YOU! Gratitude is a buzz word now-a-days, similar to mindfulness. According to to Webster, the definition of gratitude is "the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return to kindness." Pretty simple right? Being thankful does not just apply to being thankful when someone gives you something or does something for you. There are days that my gratitude practice including being grateful for the sun shining, being able to move my body, and being alive another day. It is very easy to think of all of the things were are lacking, what isn't working, what's hard, what we don't have and what we wished was better. However, by doing that, our minds are only going to focus on just that, LACK. Our brains are a muscle just like any other muscle we work, it needs to be worked in order to get stronger. So instead of focusing on what is difficult, why not express gratitude for what is not.
Every morning, think of at least three things you are grateful for before even pouring your morning cup of coffee. It is so easy to think of all the reasons we don't want to get out of bed, instead lets focus on why we do want to get out of bed. Honor yourself for where you are but push yourself to come from a place of love and being able to recognize what you have, even if there are times if doesn't feel like enough. Once you come from a place of love and gratitude and you make the choice to do this regularly, your brain will form an attachment to this and want this more and more as opposed to feeding into negatives! WE GOT THIS! Rewire those thoughts to be kinder, more grateful and from a place of love and you will feel the shift you have always desired.
